1991 Honda Prelude Specs

The Japanese automobile company Honda manufactured the Prelude from 1978 to 2001. It is a sports coupe with two doors, a front engine and rear-wheel drive. The Honda Integra, known as the Acura RSX S in North America, replaced the Prelude. Competitors include the Toyota Celica, the Nissan Silvia, the Mitsubishi FTO and Eclipse, and the Mazda MX-6. The 1991 model was the last of the third generation.

Prices

There were three "trim levels," or feature packages, available for the 1991 Honda Prelude: the 2.0 Si, the Si and the 4WS. The Kelley Blue Book prices, or current values, of these models are $1,900 to $1,975, $1,975 to $2,150, and $2,025 to $2,125, respectively, as of 2010. When they were first released, the 2.0 Si sold for $15,195; the Si sold for $17,445; and the 4WS sold for $18,750.

Engine

The standard engine for the 2.0 Si displaces 2.0 liters, meaning it has a volume of 2 liters. It has 135 horsepower and 125 ft.-lbs. of torque. Horsepower is a measurement of power that equals approximately 750 watts. Torque is a measurement of the force need to rotate an object.



For the Si and the 4WS models, the standard engine displaces 2.1 liters, and it has 140 horsepower and 133 ft.-lbs. of torque. The standard transmission was a 5-speed manual, but you could opt for a 4-speed automatic.

Fuel

The fuel efficiency for the 2.0 Si averaged 23 mpg in the city and 27 mpg on the highway. The Si and the 4WS perform only slightly worse, with an average 22 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway. The fuel tank for all models held 15.9 gallons.

Exterior Dimensions

All models have a wheel base of 101 inches, a length of 177.6 inches, a width of 67.3 inches, and a height of 49.2 inches. Their front track, or the distance between their front tires, is 58.3 inches, and their rear track is 57.9 inches. The 2.0 Si and the Si have a turning radius of 34.8 feet, but the 4WS has a turning radius of 31.5 feet. The 2.0 Si weighs 2,639 pounds, the Si weighs 2,690 pounds, and the 4WS weighs 2,712 pounds. They all use 195/60R14 tires, have two doors, and seat four people.
