The 2010 Lamborghini Gallardo serves as Lamborghini's entry-level model into the exotic sports car world. The Gallardo is Lamborghini's best selling car model. The 2010 version has a number of improvements in the car's interior appointments, making it more comfortable to drive. The four models available for 2010 have a price range of $198,000 to $221,000.
The 2010 Lamborghini Gallardo comes in four styles--the LP 560-4, LP 560-4 spyder the limited edition LP 550-2 Valentino Balboni version and the LP 570-4 Superleggera. The limited edition Valentino Balboni version has a white and gold stripe that runs from the nose of the car to the tail.
The 2010 Lamborghini Gallardo LP 560-4 coupe and spyder editions receive power from a mid-engine 5.0-liter V10 engine with dual overhead cams and four valves. This engine produces 560-horsepower at 8,000 rpm and the power gets transferred to all four wheels. The LP 550-2 Valentino Balboni edition uses the same engine but produces 550-horsepower at 8,000 rpm and the power gets transferred to the rear wheels only. The Superleggera also has a V10 engine with dual overhead cams, but unlike the other models it has 40-valves instead of four and the engine produces 570-horsepower at 8,000 rpm.
The LP 560-4 coupe has a top speed of 202 mph (325 kph). The spyder edition reaches a top speed of 201 mph (324 kph). The Valentino Balboni edition has a top speed of 199 mph (320 kph) and the Superleggera has a top speed of 202 mph. In performance testing the LP 560-4 coupe reaches 0 to 60 mph in 3.7 seconds and 0 to 125 mph in 11.8 seconds. The spyder edition reaches 0 to 60 mph in 4.0 seconds and 0 to 125 mph in 13.1 seconds. Lamborghini does not have stats on the 0 to 60 and 0 to 125 performance of the Valentino Balboni edition. The Superleggera reaches 0 to 60 mph in 3.4 seconds and 0 to 125 mph in 10.2 seconds.
Transmission and Drivetrain
All models of the 2010 Gallardo, except the Valentino Balboni edition, feature four-wheel drive with a viscous traction system. The Valentino Balboni edition has rear-wheel drive with limited slip differential. All models of the 2010 Gallardo come equipped with a 6-speed manual transmission. An optional robotized, sequential electronic gear system that gets activated by paddles on the steering column also exists.
The LP 560-4 coupe gets eight mpg in the city and 12-mpg on the highway with manual transmission. The spyder version with manual transmission gets 12-mpg in the city and 20-mpg on the highway. The spyder version with e-gear transmission gets 13-mpg in the city and 20 on the highway. The Superleggera and Valentino Balboni editions with manual transmission both get 12-mpg in the city and 20-mpg on the highway. Both of these versions equipped with the e-gear transmission get 14-mpg in the city and 20 on the highway.
