How to Clean Film Off of Headlights

Put on your gloves and clean away any dirt or debris from your car's headlights with your terry cloth hand towel and soapy water. Rinse away the soap and dry completely.

Put a nickel-sized amount of your plastic polish onto your clean terry cloth hand towel. Rub onto the headlight in a circular and up and down motion. Continue to rub until the polish is all gone.

With your damp hand towel, go over the entire headlight of your car. All of the film should be removed at this time.

Repeat on the other headlight.

Tips and Warnings

  • For headlights with a heavy film buildup, you may have to clean them two or three times before all the film is removed.
  • No matter how well you take care of your vehicle, there will always be a certain amount of exterior wear and tear. Sometimes your car will get nicked by another vehicle, or someone might break a window trying to get in. Even weather can make your car's paint job seem dull and worn. A vehicle's headlights will often gather the most dirt and film from bad weather and general driving. Thankfully, removing that film from your car's headlights is quite simple.
